Through the centuries timber due to its abundance has been the natural choice material for windows and doors and in recent year’s conservatories. Various other materials have made an impact over recent years due to some of the old problems associated with timber mainly maintenance.

How do I get a quote?

For an estimate based on the information you provide to us, please Request a Quote.

If we come out to survey, then we would normally like to walk around you home with you taking approximate dimensions for pricing purposes only (should you decide to place an order with us we will carry out detailed survey measurements for manufacture). Please do not feel alarmed if some windows are not measured, but simply viewed after years of experience we know the approximate size of a window and what price grid it will fall in.

We will ask you for your choice of preferred design, possible copying the originals. From there we will suggest some alternatives especially if you are considering lead lights or Georgian effect glass.

We will suggest some of the important factors you should give serious attention to, apart from the pure aesthetics of the window. These include things like function, comfort, energy efficiency, security fire escape, ease of operation and of course low maintenance as well as keeping the installation compliant with current building regulation requirements.

Improving the look and value of your property has never been easier. Whether casement, vertical sliding sashes, bay windows, as well as doors.

Engineered Timber

Engineered timber is a generic term used to describe a wide range of wood-based products that have been engineered to provide enhanced performance characteristics.

It is a structural timber product composed of several layers of dimensioned lumber glued together. By laminating several smaller pieces of wood, a single large, strong, structural member can be manufactured from smaller timber, thus making it more environmentally friendly than standard softwood. Various species of timber are available to show natural grains from oaks to traditional hardwood effects, they can be finished with any colour stain or painted spray finishes.

Advantages of Engineered Timber over conventional timbers
It is free from excessive shrinking and setting.
Allows immediate trimming or other decoration, while traditional timber requires 1-2 years for final settling.
Unlike traditional timber, engineered timber is free from dry-cracks and twisting, i.e. the windows stay as beautiful and as air-tight as they were at the beginning and there is no need to seal and caulk cracks.
Engineered timber is stronger, longer lasting and better-looking than whole timber because the defects are removed.
Engineered timber technology is capable of producing large cross-sections from ordinary lumber. There is no need to use thick aged trees that are rare and expensive. That is often why the laminated timber of large cross-section appears to be less expensive than a whole one.
Members can be made up of the same strength grade of timber throughout or may incorporate higher grade material in the upper and lower layers where the stress concentrations are higher.
Virtually unlimited in depth, width, and length.
Can be manufactured in a wide range of shapes.
Provides higher design strengths than sawn lumber.
Provides better utilisation of the available timber resource.
