French DoorsFrench Doors are available to open inwards or outwards. Fitted with high security locks multi point locks and hinges as standard. They can include midrails, fanlights or screens to the side and of course be coupled to our window systems.

Where can I fit them?

There are many types of doors available which can be replaced with French doors. French doors can replace existing exterior doors or sliding patio doors or to convert existing windows into an opening doorway.

One door leaf can be made offset considerably wider than the other if this were a requirement. There are also low threshold options available - see Options for details.

We have seen a trend swing to removing existing patio doors and replacing them with French doors and side screens, even as far as bricking up to the lower half of the side screens.

Available in a vast choice of styles, security and glazing options. 

We undertake to carry out all building works for peace of mind installations. Of course we will also alter existing window openings to accept a new French door.

Click image for "After"French doors are also becoming an increasingly close competitor to the Patio door for providing a spacious and panoramic access to the garden from the house itself. A 1200mm (4ft) wide French Door will provide a wider access than a 1800mm (6ft) wide sliding patio door; where just less than half the overall width is available as opening space.  Sometimes the existing patio doors are replaced with French doors and side screens with their lower half being bricked up. (Didn’t we remove those bricks years ago) how trends change?

Doors are normally fitted with a standard threshold fixed to a 30mm cill or alternatively a low threshold may be specified enabling easy access ideal for wheel chair access or as room dividers.
 
 

Dual Handles on Patio DoorsDual Handles

Traditionally doors are fitted with one handle for operating the locking system, the slave (fixed) leaf is then opened by a concealed lever once the Master leaf is opened, this can be rather fiddly for some people, we can now offer Dual handles with keyed alike locking barrels.
Simply there is a handle to both doors that will operate the master and slave leaf locks in one go. These will also give a pleasing balanced effect to the doors.
